Happy almost Soberversary. I love reading your work and appreciate your relatable voice when you focus on your own recovery. I hope you’ll keep showing up a day at a time. The road narrows and gets more beautiful with each passing year I stay clean. With admiration-d

You are right, I never would have known you were an alcoholic when we met. I what I do know is that you are an incredible talent and that as you open up and show up a very brave woman. I’m very proud of you! Your stories are effective to all. You don’t have to be an alcoholic to struggle with life, that’s for damn sure! Peace my friend.

I read this piece early this morning, Aly, and immediately remembered the first time I read the 2015 story after placing my name on your newsletter list when you “showed up” with your AMAZING voice at that venue in NJ. Reading it back then compelled me to reply to tell you how awed I was at the beautiful candor with which you wrote. That was eight years ago. You showed up for me many times since then and I tried to do the same your way. I NEVER once doubted your profound talents and ability to connect with others, via music or longform writing. And, as I predicted years ago, you WILL publish a book (not just one, but the first of many) and I can’t wait to be there when book tour starts. You’re an awesomely capable person. Silence that Inter critic and keep writing! If you only knew the countless people your writing has helped, you’d be astounded. XOXO
