Well Aly I blew the dust off of my copy of The Artist’s Way and have started to write Morning Pages. Pen to paper and a jumble of thoughts. Three pages isn’t a lot and this morning I had to force myself to stop at the third page. Thanks for that piece Aly! It has helped me open a door.

Oh my GOD, it truly never occurred to me that you can do morning pages AT ANY TIME OF DAY. Paradigm shift, bay-bee!

I love this Aly. I used to do this also, and stopped. I’ve been running from my writing for months now. This was really helpful and will inspire to sit with my writing along with my morning coffee.

I hope you retained those 1,802 pages! I’m sure there’s plenty of good material in them. I was “journaling” before it was a “thing”. I’d write in the little daily calendar entries in the annual Hallmark calendars everything that happened each day and how I felt about it and the people with whom I interacted. I’d write in very small print and sometimes in “code” so no one reading without permission could understand. I’d love to write daily pieces but not in the morning when I must run out to catch a train with wet hair and no makeup (That’s for the train!) Nighttime writing sounds better or whenever it hits me. Please tell your readers that your song lyrics were always AMAZING and that you’ll gladly do an audiobook with your beautiful voice when you publish your first full length book! 📕🙌🏻

I LOVE this, Allie! Exactly the kind of writing I love to devour. I did morning pages for two years then let it drop off after a surgery.

Congratulations on your year of morning pages! I'm not up to every day yet, but getting closer.

P.S. Happy New Year 🎉

The idea of just naming, embracing, and collecting a year of "today starts with me being anxious about _____" feels like a gift to the me of a year from now, who will sift through the entries, trying vainly to remember what half of them even mean.
